Amazon Prime Terms & Conditions

Last updated February 27, 2006
Welcome to the terms and conditions ("Terms") for Amazon Prime. These Terms are between you and Amazon Services, Inc. and/or its affiliates ("Amazon.com" or "Us"), and govern our respective rights and obligations. The Terms, together with applicable terms and conditions related to any promotional offers provided to you for use with Prime, constitute the entire agreement between you and Amazon.com related to the Prime shipping membership program. Please note that your use of the Amazon.com Web site and Prime membership are also governed by our Conditions of Use and Privacy Notice, as well as all other applicable terms, conditions, limitations and requirements on the Amazon.com Web site, all of which (as changed over time) are incorporated into these Terms. If you register for membership, you accept these terms, conditions, limitations and requirements. Please read these Terms carefully.

Program Benefits

Prime members are entitled to free Two-Day shipping and $3.99 per unit One-Day shipping on all eligible purchases. If you purchase a Prime membership, you may also invite up to four eligible family members living in your household (at the same address) to register for Prime membership at no extra cost. (Please note that any member under age 18 may use the Amazon.com Web site only with involvement of a parent or guardian.) The purchaser can change and/or remove guests at any time. A guest's membership will automatically terminate if the purchaser of the membership ceases to be a member or removes the guest. This program is not available for Corporate Accounts or for customers who purchase products for business or institutional use or for the purpose of resale.

Eligible Purchases

This program is limited to certain products sold by Amazon.com on www.amazon.com that are shipped to continental United States addresses, excluding Alaska, Hawaii, P.O. boxes, APO/FPO and U.S. territories, possessions and protectorates. Though Two-Day and One-Day shipping benefits do not apply to these excluded addresses, members are entitled to free Standard shipping on eligible items shipped to P.O. boxes in the continental U.S. and APO/FPO addresses with U.S. zip codes. We may exclude products in our discretion, including, for example, oversize or heavy items, items regulated as hazardous materials, and other items with special shipping characteristics. Products are eligible for Prime only if designated on the website. Products sold by third parties, or through third-party areas such as Marketplace, Auctions and/or zShops, are NOT eligible for Prime.

Conditions

You must have an Amazon.com account to register for and use Prime. We reserve the right to accept or refuse membership in our discretion. You may not transfer or assign your membership or these benefits, except as part of our family member guest program described above. Some special product, order, handling fees and/or taxes may still apply to eligible purchases. If only some items in your order are eligible for Prime, you will pay applicable shipping charges for the ineligible items. Changing or combining orders, or changing your shipping address, speed, or preferences might affect Prime eligibility. Please note:

  • One-Day and Two-Day shipping are options we use to determine your estimated delivery date (these options do not reflect product availability or our estimated shipping date);
  • we may ship the products by ground or air at our discretion (these options do not correspond to any carrier-branded shipping services);
  • our carriers usually do not pick-up or deliver packages on weekends or holidays;
  • we do not guaranty delivery of products within the estimated transit time or by the estimated delivery date.

Fees; Renewal

The annual membership fee for Prime is $79.00. This fee is non-refundable except as expressly set forth below. Taxes may apply on either or both of the membership fee and the reduced shipping charges for Prime. UNLESS YOU NOTIFY US BEFORE RENEWAL THAT YOU WANT TO CANCEL, YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR MEMBERSHIP WILL AUTOMATICALLY RENEW AND YOU AUTHORIZE US (WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU) TO COLLECT THE THEN-APPLICABLE ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE AND ANY TAXES USING ANY PAYMENT METHOD WE HAVE ON RECORD FOR YOU.

Membership Cancellation

If you cancel your membership before you or your registered guests have made any eligible purchases, we will refund your full membership fee.

Agreement Changes

We may in our discretion change these Terms, Amazon.com's general Conditions of Use and Privacy Notice, or any aspect of Prime membership, without notice to you. However, any increase in the membership fee will not apply until your membership is renewed. Also, if we increase the shipping charges for Prime, or decrease the number of family members who can be invited as guests, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the new terms go into effect. If you cancel your membership before the effective date of these changes, we will give you a prorated refund of your membership fee based on the number of full months remaining in your membership period. This refund option does not apply to any other changes we may make. If any change is found invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that change is severable and does not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining changes or conditions. YOUR CONTINUED MEMBERSHIP AFTER WE CHANGE THESE TERMS CONSTITUTES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THE CHANGES. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ANY CHANGES, YOU MUST CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP.

Termination by Us

We may terminate your membership at our discretion without notice. If we do so, we will give you a prorated refund based on the number of full months remaining in your membership. However, we will not give any refund for termination related to conduct that we determine, in our discretion, violates these Terms or any applicable law, involves fraud or misuse of this membership program or any other Amazon.com services or features, or is harmful to our interests or another user. Our failure to insist upon or enforce your strict compliance with these Terms will not constitute a waiver of any of our rights.

Limitation of Liability

IN ADDITION TO OTHER LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS IN AMAZON.COM'S CONDITIONS OF USE, IN NO EVENT WILL WE OR OUR DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS OR OTHER REPRESENTATIVES BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO PRIME. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, WARRANTY, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE) OR OTHERWISE, WILL NOT EXCEED THE LAST ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE YOU PAID. THESE EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY WILL APPLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW AND WILL SURVIVE CANCELLATION OR TERMINATION OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP. CERTAIN STATE LAWS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES. IF THESE LAWS APPLY TO YOU, SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU, AND YOU MIGHT HAVE ADDITIONAL RIGHTS.

What is Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime is a membership program that gives you and your family "all-you-can-eat" fast shipping. For an annual membership fee of $79 (which is waived during your 1-month free trial), you will enjoy:

Fast Shipping

  • Free Two-Day Shipping on more than one million in-stock items sold by Amazon.com.
  • Upgrades to One-Day (Overnight) Shipping for just $3.99 per item.
  • Free standard shipping for eligible items shipped to P.O. boxes in the continental United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories, possessions and protectorates) and APO/FPO addresses with U.S. zip codes.

Simple Shopping

  • No minimum purchases required.
  • Members-only 1-Click buttons on product pages.
  • No need to think about shipping charges when you order.

Convenient Sharing

  • Shared benefits with up to four family members living in the same household.
How do I sign up for Amazon Prime?

You can sign up now by clicking the button below, and we'll apply your new shipping rates to this order. If you don't wish to become a member of Amazon Prime now, you can still do so later by visiting our sign-up page:

www.amazon.com/prime

However, signing up later will mean that this order will not be eligible for Amazon Prime.

Can I order using 1-Click?

Amazon Prime works best when you use 1-Click Shopping. You'll see two members-only 1-Click buttons in the member stripe on the top of product detail pages of eligible items. One button instantly orders the item with Free Two-Day Shipping, and the other button orders the item with One-Day (Overnight) Shipping for just $3.99 per item.

To get the most out of Amazon Prime and 1-Click, please check your 1-Click settings:

  • Is 1-Click turned on? Members-only shopping buttons will not appear if 1-Click is disabled.
  • Is your default shipping address a P.O. Box? Make sure you provide a street address. We cannot use expedited carrier services for P.O. Box deliveries.
  • Is your payment information current? You may want to update your default credit card number and expiration date.
  • Is your default shipping method Two-Day? If you use the standard 1-Click button on the right-hand side of product detail pages, please verify the default shipping method for the shipping address. You will need to change it from Standard Shipping to Free Two-Day Shipping to take full advantage of your Amazon Prime benefits.

More information on using 1-Click is available on our Help pages.

Can I shop without using 1-Click?

If you prefer to use the Shopping Cart instead of 1-Click, simply place items in your Shopping Cart and proceed to checkout as usual. On the order summary page, you will see:

  • Amazon Prime-eligible items are recognized and the shipping method defaults to Free Two-Day Shipping.
  • The option to upgrade your shipment of eligible items to One-Day (Overnight) Shipping for $3.99 per item.
  • Your shipping preferences default to "ship items as they become available" (at no additional cost to you) to ensure your items arrive as soon as possible.
Which items are eligible for Amazon Prime?

Eligible products will be designated on the product page, in the order pipeline, or at check-out. The program is limited to products sold by Amazon.com. Gift certificates are not eligible for expedited shipping under Amazon Prime. Some Amazon.com products are excluded, including, for example, oversize or heavy items, items regulated as hazardous materials, and other items with special shipping characteristics. Products sold by third parties, such as Toys"R" Us and Babies "R" Us, or through third-party areas such as, Marketplace, Auctions and/or zShops, are NOT eligible.

How do I share Amazon Prime with members of my household?

Inviting family members to share your Amazon Prime membership is easy. Simply log into "Your Account" and click on the link to "Your Amazon Prime Membership." There you will see a list of your current membership, the status of all members linked to your Amazon Prime membership, and options to add or remove members.

  • To add a member: Enter the person's name, relationship, e-mail address and birthday in the appropriate fields and click "Invite." An invitation e-mail message automatically will be sent to the e-mail address you entered. Note that invited members will need to know the month and day of your birthday to accept your invitation.
  • To remove a member: Click the "Remove" button next to the name of the person you wish to remove. An e-mail message automatically will be sent to the person you remove.
What else should I know about Amazon Prime?
  • Free Two-Day and per-unit One-Day shipping options apply only for shipments to continental U.S. addresses (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, P.O. boxes, APO/FPO and U.S. territories, possessions and protectorates). Free standard shipping is available for eligible items shipped to P.O. boxes in the continental United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, possessions and protectorates) and APO/FPO addresses with U.S. zip codes.
  • This program is not available for Corporate Accounts or for customers who purchase products for business or institutional use or for the purpose of resale.
  • If only some items in your order are eligible for Amazon Prime you'll be charged applicable shipping fees for the ineligible items.
  • Two-Day and One-Day shipping have no weekend pick-up or delivery and may require signature for items over $400.
  • Items may be shipped using either ground or air shipping. These options do not correspond to any carrier-branded shipping services.

Editorial Reviews
From Publishers Weekly
Bowen is a minister with a very simple message: quit complaining. If you do, you'll be happier and healthier. Hence his Complaint-Free World challenge; the goal is to stop for 21 consecutive days. Why 21? That's how long it takes to break a habit, according to Bowen, who has appeared on Oprah and The Today Show discussing his challenge. And while there's no scientific proof his program works, he includes testimonials from people who've stopped their chronic carping and now lead more positive lives. As for issues that might make you complain about not complaining-e.g., how do you enact social change without first finding fault with the present situation?-Bowen points to Martin Luther King Jr. and his I-have-a-dream speech. He "did not stand on the steps of the Lincoln memorial and say, "Isn't it terrible how we're being treated...." Not to be critical ("Criticism is complaining with a sharp edge") but how could Bowen forget King's great rousing line that day: "America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked 'insufficient funds.' " (Oct. 16)

Book Description
"A Complaint Free World is an engaging, enjoyable, easy-to-read reminder that the only permanent, constructive changes you can make in the world are the changes that you make in yourself."
–Gary Zukav, author of The Seat of the Soul and Soul to Soul

A SIMPLE PLAN... A LIFE-CHANGING RESULT...
A HAPPIER LIFE

·What exactly is a complaint? (Chapter 1)
·Why is complaining destructive? (Chapters 2-3)
·How can I get others around me to stop complaining? (Chapter 3)
·How can we affect social change if we don't complain? (Chapter 5)
·Why is it so hard to stop complaining? (Chapters 4-6)
·What happens once I no longer complain? (Chapter 8)

You may have pondered these questions yourself. Since the Complaint Free program began, Will Bowen has received hundreds of calls, letters and emails asking these and other important questions. In A Complaint Free World: How to Stop Complaining and Start Enjoying the Life You Always Wanted, he provides practical answers and includes inspiring and touching stories from people just like you who have transformed their lives by becoming Complaint Free.

Over 6 million people in more than 80 countries have taken the Complaint Free challenge and their lives are a testament to the positive effects of this simple idea.   Find out how forming the simple habit of not complaining can transform your health, relationships, career and life.

In your hands, you hold the secret to transforming your life. Big words? Yes, but this is a plan that has already proven itself with millions of people around the world. Pastor Will Bowen developed the life-changing A Complaint Free World plan based on the simple idea that good things will happen for you in abundance if you can just leave your grumbling behind. In a Sunday-morning sermon, Will told his congregation he wanted to make the world a complaint-free zone and, to prove he was serious, he passed out purple bracelets to each church member and offered them a challenge. "If you catch yourself complaining, take the bracelet and move it to the other wrist."

Now, less than a year later, more than six million people have taken up the challenge, trying to go twenty-one consecutive days without complaining, criticizing, or gossiping, and in so doing, forming a new, positive habit. By changing your words, you can change your thoughts and then begin to create your life by design. People have shared stories with Will of chronic pain relieved, relationships healed, careers improved, and becoming an overall happier person. Less pain, improved health, satisfying relationships, a better job, being more serene and joyous—sound good? It's not only possible, it's probable. Consciously striving to reformat your mental hard drive is not easy, but you can start now by using the steps Bowen presents here.

In this book, you can learn what constitutes a complaint, why we complain, what benefits we think we receive from complaining, how complaining is destructive to our lives, and how we can get others around us to stop complaining. You will learn the steps to eradicating this poisonous form of expression from your life. If you stay with it, you will find that not only will you not complain, but others around you will cease to do so as well. In a short period of time, you can have the life you've always dreamed of having.

Hi,
Sorry I've not been writing and commenting as much lately.  We've been a little busy (but I'm not complaining).  We just finished the "Complaint Free Kids" curriculum for schools which will be available online for teachers to download--free.   We've just launched (pardon the pun) the regristration for our Complaint Free Cruise (register by April 15th 2008--the cruise is in April of 2009).

Plus,  I was interviewed this week by NPR and Newsweek and we were contacted by CBS Sunday Morning for them to do a story on how the Complaint Free phenomenon continues to travel around the world. After having only been out for 3 1/2 months, my book "A Complaint Free World--How to Stop Complaining and Start Enjoying the Life You Always Wanted" is now in its 7th printing here in the U.S. .
For more information, visit our web site: www.AComplaintFreeWorld.org .
We're doing our first "Complaint Free Organizations" seminar today here in Kansas City and next week I'll be speaking in Phoenix Arizona and the following week I'll be speaking in Washington, DC.

You are part of something big.  Becoming Complaint Free is now a huge change in consciousness and your attitude shift is impacting everyone around you,  Keep switching that bracelet whenever you complain and focus on the good that's everywhere.

In Joy,

Will

Exciting things are happening!  In just this past week, I've done interviews with media in Ireland, Australia, Spain and Hong Kong.  And my book has gone into its 5th printing after only being on shelves for 3 months.

It is now being published in 14 foreign countries and the audio book continues to sell very well.

And we're doing more to spread the word and help raise consciousness. We are putting the finishing touches a "Complaint Free Kids" school curriculum and a seminar for companies. As we were talking about the title for our corporate seminars, we toyed with, "those who bitch don't get rich" <smile> but settled on "The Complaint Free Organization--How to turn people who whine into people who shine."
Also, we've just set up a "Complaint Free Cruise" which will be in April of 2009.  Hope you'll join us!

I tell you this to let you know that more and more people around the world just like you are realizing the benefits of living a happy life.  And a happy life begins with not complaining.

If you want some help becoming Complaint Free, join our Complaint Free group at  Revolution Health

Here's to your success!

The other day, my wife and I were talking to friends and concluded our conversation with "Happy New Year."  Our 11-year old daughter Lia asked, "Daddy, why do you say that?"  I explained that the calendar was changing and it was a tradition to wish people a Happy New Year.

"No," she said, "Why do you want them to be happy just when the year is new?  Why not wish them a 'Happy Whole Year.'"

She makes a good point.  Being a happy person is a full-time job.  It takes a willingness to leave complaining behind and to be grateful for what is good, today.  The opposite of complaining is gratitude.  Make 2008 a year of gratitude and see how happiness comes to you easily and often.

We at www.AComplaintFreeWorld are grateful for:

1. Our thousands of wonderful volunteers and donors
2. The thousands of schools who are giving purple complaint free bracelets to their kids
3. "O-Oprah's Magazine" is distributing 85,000 Complaint Free Bracelets to the people in South Africa
4. The Lincoln Nebraska Journal Star Newspaper where 21 members of their staff have taken the pledge to become Complaint Free
5. The nearly 5 million people who are currently wearing purple Complaint Free bracelets making our world a better place.

What are you grateful for?  Make a list and read it often.  You'll see how happines comes to you easily and often.

Happy WHOLE Year to you!
-Will Bowen

5.0 out of 5 stars Assigned Reading, Very Worthwhile, November 20, 2007
By Robert D. Steele (Oakton, VA United States) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
My wife asked me to buy this book after hearing about it. I did, it is a worthy useful book, and I will take its challenge.

The author does a tremendous job of gently pointing out all the things about complaining that are both negative and futile:

+ complaining is about what you cannot have or get--get over it
+ avoid chronic complainers, the disease spreads
+ Takes 4-8 months to move from unconsciously incompetent to unconsciously competent.
+ Complaining traps you in a constante state of "something is wrong."
+ Complaining is a form of manipulation
+ Instead of complaining seek alternative language or BE SILENT
+ Silence is mature self-possession
+ Commit to what you want and go after it--WITHOUT COMPLAINT when stymied

The book is quite effective at an underlying theme, God will provide. In acceptance lies happenstance, coincidence (or not), and harmony. The church that started this movement has given out 125,000 free purple bracelets, and issues Certificates of Happiness when anyone can attest to going 21 days without a complaint. They are starting up spin-off programs such as a Complaint-Free Relationship, School, or Workplace.

The author touches briefly on the strategic game of nations, pointing out that instead of negotiating the negative (like nuclear proliferation) why not spend more time sharing information and strategizing the positive, like the end of poverty and disease? Amen.

The book concludes with a raft of first person accounts, roughly one per page, and they are all serious and meaningful, not at all trite of hokey. This is a serious book for serious people.

Entirely and absolutely by coincidence (or not--I really am staring to come back God in community), reading this book coincided with my reading of one squishy and one leadership book, and all three of them center on the same point: be open, be accepting, visualize the good.

I am so taken with this book that I am adding it to my CEO List (Collective and Commercial Intelligence). I find it hard to imagine a CEO of a Fortune 500 company that could get through a day without complaining, but boy, would I like to be around someone like that, who can drive a Fortune 500 company without ever complaining. Now *that* is leadership.

The other two books:
The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Pocketbook Guide to Fulfilling Your Dreams (One Hour of Wisdom)
The Source of Leadership: Eight Drivers of the High-impact Leader

The more I think about, the more I am impressed by this book out of Kansas City, Missouri. This book is the essence of what is good and great about America as a frontier Nation, enduring challenges, never mind the occasional genocide, slave trade, and unprovoked war. The heart of this country is still good, even if the corrupt politicians have lost their soul. We can change all that in this next election, and I am going to stop complaining and start working to elect someone who represents the young, the good, and the future.

Bless all those who brought us this treasure, this gift of calm.

5.0 out of 5 stars An irresistible meme, January 2, 2008

This book provides a practical program for increasing happiness and satisfaction by becoming aware of one's unconscious complaints against life, then consciously giving up short-term griping and gloating in favor of long-term gratitude. It's a non-denominational approach that starts working when you merely hear about the idea!

If you think about complaining to others being like second-hand cigarette smoke, you can see how complaining poisons the common breathing space. The goal is to go 21 days without complaining, and when you catch yourself complaining, you switch an inexpensive plastic bracelet to the opposite wrist. When you don't have to switch the bracelet for 21 consecutive days, you've met the challenge.

The book is easy to read, encouraging, and addresses most of the objections our silly, fearful minds are so quick to raise. For me it is a support to the Buddhist value of "Right Speech." My husband and I have not yet received the purple reminder bracelets, but we joke about switching our imaginary bracelets to the other wrist whenever we catch ourselves complaining. It's a program worth trying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very few books are this Transformational , January 18, 2008

I just finished reading A Complaint Free World and I must say that I was floored with this guide on becoming a complaint free person. As a Christian I believed that i was a very positive person but after taking on this challenge I found out that contrary to what I believed, I complain quite often and i wonder if I will ever make it to 21 days, but I will continue to go forward and strive towards that goal.
This book is maybe one of the 5 best books I have ever read and I believe that this concept can change the world, because I believe that all of us are complainers and that complaining really doesn't do anyone any good.
As well as being a guide to a system that I believe could end complaining in our lives, this book also describes complaining, how it effects us and what it does to others.
This book is an absolute must to read and to practice, heres to a better world.
