Vote for WonderRoot in Creative LoafingÕs upcoming Best of Atlanta issue. There are a lot of different categories that WonderRoot would be a good candidate forÉ including Best Concert Venue, Best Place to Hear Local Music, Best New Thing About Atlanta, Most Unique Thing about Atlanta, Off the Beaten Path Tourist Destination, and New Trend in the Arts. However, the categories that we would really appreciate your votes in are the Best Advocate for the Arts, and Best Underground Arts Space. WonderRoot will be closed this weekend from Friday, July 4 to Sunday, July 6. We will resume our regular hours on Monday, July 7. We do have some exciting shows over the holiday weekend, so check the schedule page for more details. We hope everyone has a safe and exciting holiday weekend!

Tune in tomorrow, Monday June 30th, to 89.3 WRFG Radio Free Atlanta to listen to a live interview with the directors of WonderRoot, Chris and Witt. They will be discussing WonderRoot and other topics relating to Atlanta art and activism during the WRFG Progressive News Hour show "Radio Free Activists." The interview will be from 12:00 pm until 12:15pm, and you can listen on the radio at 89.3 or on the web at WRFG.org.

WonderRoot has an exciting week coming up. First off, directors, Witt Wisebram and Chris Appleton, are being interview on WRFG at 12:00 pm Monday. Also, Monday evening WonderRoot artists will be working with the Center for Children and Young Adults. We will doing some photography and mural painting. There are five shows between now and next Sunday. Lastly, new art is going up on Thursday. Thanks to MINT for curating the show.

Beginning Monday, June 16, Juliana Thomas is hosting an art camp for youth and will be teaching printmaking, sculpting, painting, ceramics, and more. There will be 18 kids participating in the week of workshops. We are so excited to be hosting this great opportunity for kids.

WonderRoot's June Art show is up. From June 5 - July 2, artists Rachel Evans, Charlie B., Lee Summers, Brennan Maddox, Christie Parry, and Francis Matia will are showing. All artwork is for sale; artists receive 100% of the proceeds. Please come out and support local artists. The closing reception is Saturday, June 28 at 8pm.

WonderRoot June Art Show begins Wednesday June 4 and runs through July 2. Show includes works by Charlie B., Lee Summers, Francis Matia, Brennan Maddox, Christy Parry, and Rachel Evans. On June 2, WonderRoot artists helped facilitate a mural project for over 40 youth leaders. As part of the National Conference of Service and Volunteering hosted by the Hands on Network, WonderRoot provided artists to work with youth from all over Atlanta to paint murals that will be displayed at the High Museum. Thanks to Points of Light and all the WonderRoot volunteers that helped. Check back soon for info about the High Museum Exhibition.

WonderRoot would like to thank everyone for such a successful and fun grand opening weekend. Beginning with the benefit at the Earl on Thursday and ending with the film screening on Sunday, we are so excited about the turnout and positive energy. A special thanks to Alex Auxier for organizing the benefit at the Earl. Saturday was amazing with over 250 people coming out to see our space. Nana Grizol, Witches, and the Atlanta Sedition Orchestra were the perfect bands and we are so grateful they performed. Thanks for all the support!

Grand Opening Party this Saturday at WonderRoot Community Arts Center. Wonder Kat Bike Race (7pm). Performances by Nana Grizol (members of Neutral Milk Hotel and Defiance, Ohio) (Athens, GA), The Atlanta Sedition Orchestra and Witches!! Late Night DJ set with DJ Tom Hanks!! Amazing Local Art. FREE!!! Come on out and be a part of the official launch of our new space. Vegan brunch and Freaks and Geeks screening on Sunday at 12 noon ($5).

On June 2, WonderRoot Artists will be working with 120 local youth on painting life size NOW letters. This project is part of the National Volunteer and Service Conference hosted by Hands on Network and Points of Light. The murals with represent the urgency of volunteering and being active in our communities. We are excited to be working with so many great people on this project. Once the murals have dried, they will be exhibited at the High Museum.
